i'm back...

Hi folks,

Sorry about the long hiatus. There has been a major upheaval and shift in my way of life in the past 2 weeks and I have been physically and mentally drained to write about what happened as well as restricted in my access to the internet/my blog. My apologies.

Long story short (for now), I have "relocated" my life back to Malaysia. My four years in the US somehow feels like a dream now, surreal and unbelievable. My worldly possessions were torn away from me, trashed and will be long forgotten as I pack up my life into 5 huge suitcases, 2 carry-ons and 2 boxes.

But seriously, how does one pack up 4 years of her life and throw away some parts of that 4 years?

How does one deal with so many sudden changes in life all happening at once?

Oh, and also--saying goodbye to mr. boyfriend and saying hello to LDR.

I have yet to have a good long cry and a good long thinking/pondering of my state of mind towards my state of living.

Nonetheless, I'm back.

when finals and school is officially OVER

The University of Chicago
June 4th-14th

Chicago White Sox Game

I have never been to a baseball game and I do not understand baseball at all. Come Sunday afternoon, we seniors boarded yellow school buses and were on our way to U.S. Cellular Field to watch my very first baseball game!

Chicago White Sox won the World Series Championship in 2005 and the whole city of Chicago celebrated! They last won in...1906 & 1917. LOL.

Chicago White Sox VS. Minnesota Twins
VS.

U.S. Cellular Field

It was HOT and SUNNY when we boarded the bus and when we arrived at U.S. Cellular Field.

After we bought food and went to the stands, it was drizzling. And in 5 minutes, it was freaking POURING!!!

We were all drenched like a "falling soup chicken" ("luo tang ji"). A couple of my girlfriends decided to leave in the pouring rain as I waited with the boys. Yeah, one of the boys. Well, I wasn't going to miss my last chance to watch a baseball game!

The base was quickly covered to protect the sand as people were scrambling for cover.

After an hour of heavy pouring rain, it miraculously stopped.

THE GAME IS STILL ON.

Whew, for a moment, I thought I was not going to be able to watch a baseball game after all.

The unveiling of the base took some time. The little men in black came out and pulled the cover off in unison to get rid of the rain water. Then they pulled the cover in the other direction again to roll it up properly. Then they scattered sand around the base in a very pretty pattern =p.

Note the neon yellow dots of people amongst the audience?

They're the...food and drinks people.

I believe that most of the revenue from a baseball game (or any sports events like basketball, football etc.) come from OVERPRICED food and drinks. We are not allowed to bring in any food or drinks (and they have security people to check that!) so they can charge whatever they want to.

Meet the Margarita Man:

Yes, that's margarita he's carrying. He wears a badge that says "Margarita $6.95". He checks your ID (because you have to be over 21 to drink in the US. Lame.) and then he squirts margarita into a cup for you.

Meet the Beer Man:

OK, he's not very exciting because he just lugs bottles of beers around to sell. But kesian him, have to carry the heavy beer up the stairs and down the stairs of the stands.

Minnesota Twins batted first. Then the Chicago White Sox.

Then in the 2nd inning (out of 9 innings), Nick Swisher from the Chicago White Sox hit a home run!!! There were fireworks!!! But I was in shock, so by the time I whisked out my camera, only smoke was left.

The score was 8-1 in favor of Chicago White Sox when I left at the end of the 3rd inning. And the Chicago White Sox won 12-2. YEAH!!! Go Chicago!

I'm two and a half hours away from my last finals in my undergraduate life.

...intertemporal substitution effects, wealth effects, real money demand, goods market clearing condition, temporary adverse productivity shock, marginal product of labor, inflation rate, real interest rate, neutrality of money, money growth rate, capital change rule, solow's model, golden rule level of capital...

a list of lasts

I experienced my last Chicago winter and my last crappy Chicago spring (it's June but still cold wtfreak). I had my last undergraduate class yesterday and I am going to have my last undergraduate finals tomorrow. Then onwards to my last week in college (yeah senior week!) and my last month in the States.

It's coming and it's going to hit me *WHACK* in the face but it's not setting in yet.

* In 10 days, I say goodbye to college friends and the comforts of college.

* In 12 days, I say goodbye to mr. boyfriend.

* In 22 days, I say goodbye to the States.

It's a lot of last moments and goodbyes and I feel that I have cheated myself in this past 4 years by not going to places, not seeing things, not doing stuffs. And it's now too late because everything is going to be over in a flash.

I don't want to say goodbye =(.
